Weekly Event - Every Thursday: 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM (CT)
Join us for TechThursdays@OfficePort, a weekly get-together where entrepreneurs, developers, new media types—and just plain people—can connect over a beer.
On Nov. 19, i-Go car sharing will give a special presentation about how it uses technology to make life greener for Chicagoans. (Did you know they're a local non-profit? www.igocars.org) Also, attendees will get $50 off an i-Go membership. Now, that's green!
Also, get a peek at Shortcts.in, a simple, searchable interface for finding hot keys in your favorite applications. The interface is a real stunner, and it was developed in one night for Social DevCamp Chicago's hackathon. Creators The Dudes make their triumphant return to OfficePortCHI, where the hackathon took place.
See you Thursday!

I think we expanded more than a few minds tonight! Huge round of applause for Kris Hammond, Larry Birnbaum and NU's InfoLab crew for giving us a peek at next-generation semantic Web applications.
An Awesome salute to Abraham Williams for traveling from Madison to show off his Awesome Lists. If you'd like a beta invite, tweet @abraham and tell him how Awesome you are.
Most of all, thank you to everyone who came out tonight to discover new people and new technology. I hope you enjoyed yourself and will come back next week for a special presentation by i-Go car sharing. (Did you know they're a local non-profit?) Find out how i-Go uses technology to make life greener for Chicagoans. Attendees will get $50 off an i-Go membership. Now, that's green!
See you at the next TechThursday!
Jason Goodrich, OfficePortCHI coworking evangelist
This week has really turned into a mini TECH Cocktail!
> Northwestern's InfoLab will demo their latest context-aware projects at six stations.
> Awesome Lists creator Abraham Williams is coming from Madison to give demos and beta invites!
> Paul Caswell will give tours of his incredible social weave application, "Weave the People."
> Coworking evangelist Jason Goodrich will preview A Space Apart, a location-based social media platform for public spaces.
It will be a wonderfully diverse group of attendees as well: Along with entrepreneurs and techies, we'll have artists from Let's Create New Media in Chicago, Social DevCampers, journalists and charitable Big 10 alumni.
See you Thursday!
Thanks to everyone who came out tonight for a super fun edition of TechThursday!
Huge, coinable thanks to Noel Burkman for showing off his newest baby to us. Ya know, Google didn't start as a search engine...
Next Thursday, Nov. 5, we'll have live music courtesy of our featured guest, indiecollision.com, which helps unsigned bands find their fans. It's another great mashup of social media concepts and real-world practicality.
Don't miss it!
